Wall and slab bearing pads

Wall and slab bearing pads are used for the support of concrete slabs onto load bearing walls. The acoustic decoupling of non-supporting internal walls is very important for today’s modern buildings. Their use helps to maintain living quality and maintain property values.

The use of these pads ensures that bearing pressures exerted by slabs are centred on the supporting masonry or concrete walls. Horizontal movements partially caused by creep and shrinkage of the concrete slab as well as variations in length, due to temperature variations can thus be absorbed. Angular displacements caused by deflection of the slab can also be absorbed by elastic or slide bearings with load transmitting elastomeric materials.

The use of these pads also helps to avoid possible cracks in supporting walls. These bearing pads are individually designed and supplied to the building site ready for installation.

Egcodist bearing pads are supplied in a number of versions:

  • Elastic bearings – restraint forces are reduced and horizontal force transmissions limited
  • Slide bearings – restraint forces are reduced to the coefficient of friction of the bearing pad and horizontal force transmission is eliminated. Different versions for absorption of temporary and permanent movements
  • Plane bearings – used for separation of individual components. Peaks of stress are reduced and cracks avoided. Impact sound transmission is also decreased in the high frequency range.
